Worldspan, the leader in global reservation system and e-commerce for the
travel industry, has an immediate opening for a Corporate Communications
Specialist in our Atlanta office.
Qualified candidate will be responsible for supporting various public
relations campaigns and serving as liaison to worldwide markets.
Coordinating a broad spectrum of core public relations activities to
include executive support, news release administration and the speaker's
bureau.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the
following essential duties satisfactorily: Develop and maintain strong
media relations programs, work with outside consultants as needed. Write,
edit and manage news releases primarily for industry trades and coordinate
executive interviews with the media. Manage clipping service. Research and
respond effectively to all media inquiries and act as spokesperson on
behalf of Worldspan. Monitor flow of information to outside sources to
include partner airlines, as well as other public and private
organizations, and generate media exposure for emerging market development
and sales success stories. Participate at trade shows, conferences and
other public relations events.
Successful candidate must have knowledge of media relations and processes.
Knowledge of word-processing, spreadsheet and presentation programs, e-mail
and internet/intranet functionality. Strong verbal, written and
communication skills required. Strong organizational, analytical and time
management skills necessary. Ability to interact and communicate
effectively with diverse groups of people, as well as ability to manage
multiple projects and work independently. Some web skills helpful.
Interfacing with executive staff, media trades and financial trades. Must
be accessible outside normal office hours for possible media inquiries and
special work assignments. Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.
Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Public Relations, or Marketing is
required. At least two years of proven related experience is also
required.
