The Community Foundation
COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER
The Communications Officer will have responsibility for developing and
implementing a communications plan and budget to increase visibility and
understanding of The Community Foundation in the metropolitan Atlanta
community in support of the vision and strategic plan. The communications
plan includes print and internet communications, media relations, public
relations and advertising.
The Communications Officer works under the direct leadership of the
President and collaboratively with the officers of the Advancement,
Program, Local Funds and Finance Departments.
The Communications Officer will support the organization's leadership by
elevating and enhancing The Community Foundation's profile with targeted
constituencies, establishing an understanding of The Community Foundation's
role in building communities, assisting in developing a diverse base of
donors and expanding The Community Foundation's presence and involvement in
community efforts.
Duties include:
* Coordinate effective representation and communications of The Community
Foundation's mission to all communities, potential donors, grantees and
those seeking foundation support.
* Promote and enhance the image of The Community Foundation
* Support and promote a focus and understanding of the foundation's
mission.
* Ensure the dissemination of financial and general information about The
Community Foundation to stakeholders, the general public, diverse
audiences, business and media.
* Write or coordinate program and marketing materials, including speech
writing.
* Provide counsel to the senior management group in the development of a
comprehensive communications plan.
* Update web site on ongoing basis.
* Develop, direct and implement public relations strategies and tactics for
the various departments in The Community Foundation.
* Oversight and coordination of special events.
Candidate is preferred to have 5 years in nonprofit
marketing/communications or related field. An undergraduate degree is
required for this opportunity, with preference for marketing or marketing
related.
Candidate should have excellent interpersonal communication skills,
excellent writing skills; proven track record of successfully working with
the media including sample placements; strong organizational skills,
especially planning and coordination; and ability to function as part of a
team.
Candidate should be computer literate, including Internet and web site
experience; desktop publishing skills a plus; and have experience in
planning special events. Writing samples are required with resume.
The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta, Inc. has assets of over $400
million, the earnings of which are granted to nonprofit organizations in
the 22 county metropolitan Atlanta area. TCF has over 600 component funds
established by donors for various charitable purposes and makes
approximately 2000 grants per year. There are 32 staff persons.
