A recently completed survey conducted on behalf of the Council of Public
Relations Firms is a shocker. The study shows that the PR industry, which is
suppose to be a leader in communications, has been more interested in making
profits than understanding and adapting to the internet. The study, titled
The Impact of the Internet on Public Relations and Marketing Communications,
is an eye-opener for PR clients who are footing the bill for this lack of
understanding and for PR folks who are looking to their futures.
Unfortunately, even PR pros who have been identified as internet gurus fail
to appreciate just how out of touch they and their peers are.
For PR folks who want to understand the internet and use it successfully for
their clients and employers, there are models and practical examples to
follow. (These are not included in the PR industry study which was conducted
by IMT Strategies Inc.)

adapt to the internet.'
