Some special interest groups and trade associations have asked me to
talk about "ePublic Relations," a concept which I've been working on
for the last three or four years. I would like to get your reaction
to the idea.
The basic idea behind epublic relations is that because of the growth
of the internet PR needs to change fundamentally. Change is
essential because the internet has transformed the communications
environment in which PR folks and their employers and clients work.
No where is this more apparent than in the success social activists,
NGOs, and others have experienced in using the internet to organize
and promote their views. The demonstrations at the World Trade
Organization meeting in Seattle are a prime example.
The May 2000 issue of O'Dwyer's PR Services Report carried a couple
of articles on epublic relations. The website,
www.epublicrelations.org, has the articles and more information. If
you visit the site, the "ePublic Relations 101" item outlines the
framework for epublic relations.
Your feedback is appreciated.

Ross Irvine
