Hello again, Tennessee Library community,
I'm excited to announce an update to the article that I shared last week from the National Endowment for the Humanities website - scroll down the page to read the "PS": https://www.neh.gov/blog/documenting-lost-african-american-newspapers
I had a wonderful response to the article from this listerv. Thanks to all of you who sent me such kind words of gratitude and encouragement. It means a lot to hear from you! The first response - from Bill Dahnke at the Obion County Public Library - led to us identifying two new titles from the 1880s.
Huge credit to Bill for finding, sharing, and continuing to gather more info about these newspapers and the editor/owner, P.F. Hill from Union City. Bill is uncovering more and more details about Hill's life. We may never get to see the newspapers themselves, but at least we can tell the stories of those who contributed to our state's newspaper history.
Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any information about historical newspapers in Tennessee!
Have a great weekend,
Louisa
