SECOND ANNOUNCEMENT
Riemannian Topology
and
Geometric Structures on Manifolds
Albuquerque, New Mexico, Oct. 11-14, 2006
==========================================
Dear Colleague,
the conference on Riemannian Topology and Geometric
Structures on Manifolds will celebrate Charles Boyer's 65th birthday.
The dates set for the conference are
Wednesday, Oct 11 --- Saturday, Oct 14, 2006.
At present we have the confirmed participation of the following
main speakers:
Robert Bryant, Jeff Cheeger, Karsten Grove, Paul Gauduchon,
Nigel Hitchin, Ludmil Katzarkov, J\'anos Koll\'ar, Claude LeBrun,
James Sparks, Stephan Stolz, Gang Tian, Wolfgang Ziller.
We expect to add some names to this list. The objective of this
meeting is to provide a forum for the discussion of recent advances
in the areas of positive sectional curvature, Kaehler and Sasakian
geometry, and their interrelation to mathematical physics, especially
M and Superstring theory. We intend to create and provide a platform
for the discussion of these fundamental ideas, the growth they have
experienced in the recent past, and the open problems of interest.
Three sets of survey lectures will be given on Non-negative Sectional
Curvature, Kaehler Geometry and Stability, and Sasakian Geometry.
We have received NSF, Efroymson, and anonymous funding for this
event, and have some resources available to help defray the
costs of participation of graduate students and recent phds. The url
for the conference is the
http://www.math.unm.edu/rietop/
site where you can find up-to-date information about the event. The site
provides a link to the conference registration form and explains how to
apply for
financial support. For any questions related to the conference,
please contact either any of the organizers (K. Galicki
([log in to unmask]), E. Gasparim ([log in to unmask]) or S.
Simanca ([log in to unmask])), or write to the following email

This message was sent to you via the Geometry List, which announces conferences in geometry and closely related areas to over 1100 mathematicians worldwide.
Before sending an announcement, please carefully read the following. To announce a geometry or closely related conference, send the announcement (including a conference web site if possible) to [log in to unmask] The moderator cannot edit your message; list members will receive the announcement as an e-mail from you EXACTLY as you submitted it. For example, if your submission starts with "Please post this on the geometry list" then your conference anouncement will also begin with that statement. In order to keep down the volume of e-mail, only TWO announcements per conference
will be approved by the moderator. The "subject" of your message should include the name of the conference and the number (first or second) of the announcement, e.g. Gauss Memorial Lectures in Geometry: Second Announcement. Please check that your announcement (especially the website) is correct! Corrections will be approved only in the most critical situations, e.g. if corrected information is not available on the website.
At http://listserv.utk.edu/archives/geometry.html there are many functions available, including checking the archives since November 2005, changing your e-mail address or preferences, and joining/leaving the list. If you have problems that cannot be resolved at this website, send a message to [log in to unmask]
The Geometry List is sponsored and maintained by the Mathematics Department, The University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
