Developments in
Understanding
Symplectic Geometry
And Topology
Stony Brook, October 2006
We are organizing a conference in Stony Brook on topics in
Symplectic Topology and Geometry and their applications to celebrate
Dusa McDuff's 60th birthday.
The dates for the conference are
Thursday, Oct 12 --- Sunday, Oct 15, 2006
Lectures will be given by:
Y. Eliashberg, K. Fukaya, V. Guillemin, H. Hofer, F. Lalonde,
R. Pandharipande, R. Piene, D. Salamon, I. Smith, D. Sullivan,
S. Tolman.
As part of the conference, on the morning of Friday Oct 13,
there will be a mini-workshop consisting of shorter talks by young
researchers (recent PhD's and graduate students), and organized by
Dietmar Salamon and Aleksey Zinger. Talks will be given by:
J. Johns, D. Karp, D. Maulik, B. Parker, R. Sena-Dias
The conference and the workshop are supported by a grant from
the National Science Foundation and by the Simons Mathematical Physics
Endowment and we expect to be able fund a number of younger
participants, as well as other qualified applicants who do not have
access to travel funds from other sources. To apply for support please
check the appropriate boxes and provide the indicated information on
the registration form at
http://www.math.sunysb.edu/dusafest/registration.shtml
More information on registration, talks schedule, deadlines,
accommodation, fees, travel support, etc is available on
the conference's web page

This message was sent to you via the Geometry List, which announces conferences in geometry and closely related areas to over 1100 mathematicians worldwide.
Before sending an announcement, please carefully read the following. To announce a geometry or closely related conference, send the announcement (including a conference web site if possible) to [log in to unmask] The moderator cannot edit your message; list members will receive the announcement as an e-mail from you EXACTLY as you submitted it. For example, if your submission starts with "Please post this on the geometry list" then your conference anouncement will also begin with that statement. In order to keep down the volume of e-mail, only TWO announcements per conference
will be approved by the moderator. The "subject" of your message should include the name of the conference and the number (first or second) of the announcement, e.g. Gauss Memorial Lectures in Geometry: Second Announcement. Please check that your announcement (especially the website) is correct! Corrections will be approved only in the most critical situations, e.g. if corrected information is not available on the website.
At http://listserv.utk.edu/archives/geometry.html there are many functions available, including checking the archives since November 2005, changing your e-mail address or preferences, and joining/leaving the list. If you have problems that cannot be resolved at this website, send a message to [log in to unmask]
The Geometry List is sponsored and maintained by the Mathematics Department, The University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
