Developments in
Understanding
Symplectic Geometry
And Topology
Stony Brook, October 2006
We are organizing a conference at Stont Brook on topics in
Symplectic Topology and Geometry and their applications to celebrate
Dusa McDuff's 60th birthday.
The dates for the conference are
Thursday, Oct 12 --- Sunday, Oct 15, 2006
Lectures will be given by:
Y. Eliashberg, K. Fukaya, V. Guillemin, H. Hofer, F. Lalonde,
R. Pandharipande, R. Piene, D. Salamon, I. Smith, D. Sullivan,
S. Tolman.
As part of the conference, on the morning of Friday Oct 13,
therewill be a mini-workshop consisting of 5-6 shorter talks by young
researchers (recent PhD's and graduate students), and organized by
Dietmar Salamon and Aleksey Zinger. The list of speakers is
currently being finalized, but we welcome submissions of titles and
abstracts for consideration in the mini-workshop (at the email address
listed below).
We have applied for NSF funding and pending a successful outcome of
our application we hope to be able fund a number of younger participants
at the conference and mini-workshop.
A second announcement will contain more information on
registration, talks schedule, deadlines, accommodation, fees,
travel support, etc. The conference's web page
http://www.math.sunysb.edu/dusafest/
will have up-to-date information about the conference and will also
provide a link to the conference registration form. For any further
questions related to the conference and the mini-workshop please
contact the organizers (Mike Anderson and Sorin Popescu, Dietmar
Salamon and Aleksey Zinger) at the following email address:

This message was sent to you via the Geometry List, which announces conferences in geometry and closely related areas to over 1100 mathematicians worldwide.
To announce a geometry or closely related conference, send the announcement (including a conference web site if possible) to [log in to unmask] In order to keep down the volume of e-mail, only TWO announcements per conference
will be approved by the moderator. The "subject" of your message should include the name of the conference and the number (first or second) of the announcement, e.g. Gauss Memorial Lectures in Geometry: Second Announcement. The announcement will be received by members of the list as a message from you exactly as you submitted it. Please check that your announcement (especially the website) is correct! Corrections will be approved only in the most critical situations, e.g. if corrected information is not available on the website.
At http://listserv.utk.edu/archives/geometry.html there are many functions available, including checking the archives since November 2005, changing your e-mail address or preferences, and joining/leaving the list.
