21st ANNUAL GEOMETRY FESTIVAL
University of Pennsylvania
Philadelphia, PA
Friday March 31 - Sunday April 2, 2006
The 21st Annual Geometry Festival will be held at the
Department of Mathematics of the University of Pennsylvania,
from Friday afternoon March 31 to Sunday noon, April 2, 2006.
The speakers are:
Jeff Cheeger Courant Institute, NYU
Charles Fefferman Princeton University
Helmut Hofer Courant Institute, NYU
Ko Honda University of Southern California
William Meeks University of Massachusetts
Yair Minsky Yale University
Frank Morgan Williams College
Zoltan Szabo Princeton University
Everyone is invited to the Geometry Festival, and graduate
students are especially encouraged to attend. A continuing
grant from the National Science Foundation makes it possible
for us to partially reimburse the expenses of a large number
of graduate students, post-docs and younger faculty who do not
have access to travel funds from other sources. A substantial
portion of this funding can be committed in advance, and
experience shows that additional funds for this purpose are
usually available after conference expenses have been met.
We will appreciate your bouncing this message to the
graduate students in your department, and telling them
about the Geometry Festival.
The Geometry Festival website
www.math.upenn.edu/geomfest
is up and running.
Please visit the web site for the usual conference information,
in particular:
Titles and abstracts of the talks, and the detailed schedule,
when available.
Registration and financial support.
The Saturday night banquet.
Accomodations...we are holding blocks of rooms at several
very nice hotels.
A list of participants will be posted approximately one week
before the beginning of the conference.
The web site will remain in place after the Geometry Festival
is over, so that you can refer to it for information about, and
links to, future Festivals.
Geometry Festival Organizing Committee: Jonathan Block,

This message was sent to you via the Geometry List, which announces conferences in geometry and closely related areas to around 1100 mathematicians worldwide.
Please note that the Geometry List has Moved! To announce a geometry
or closely related conference, send the announcement (including a
conference web site if possible) to [log in to unmask] In order to
keep down the volume of e-mail, only TWO announcements per conference
will be approved. The "subject" of your message should include the name
of the conference and the number (first or second) of the announcement,
e.g. Gauss Memorial Lectures in Geometry: Second Announcement.
To view the archives of the Geometry List since October 17, 2005, or join/leave the list, visit http://listserv.utk.edu/. To resolve any problems, such as inability to leave the list, send a message to [log in to unmask] Archives of conferences announced prior to October 17, 2005, will be made available at a later date, and the URL for the archives website will be mentioned in this space in future Geometry List announcements.
The Geometry List is sponsored and maintained by the Mathematics Department, The University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
